Henry had a conference in his office with the City of New York Commission for the 200th Celebration of George Washington and the you (Mr. M.) to write the dedicatory poem, and you are the official poet. Their is also another dedeication in April for the Federal Hall replica in Mount Vernon. He will speaking a the Five Arts Club and sending out a lot of inviation to the dedication of the Washington Schoolhouse, he discusses them further. Reference will be forwarded to Mrs. Hamilton.

California poet. Raised near Vacaville, became a schoolteacher in Coloma and later in Oakland. Became famous overnight with publication of "The Man with a Hoe," his protest against brutalization of labor, in "San Francisco Examiner" (January 15, 1899). Following this success Markham moved to New York where he scored another triumph with "Lincoln and Other Poems" (1901). He became a well-known reader of his own poems and lecturer of idealistic views, but his creative output for remainder of life ...
